Dance showcase Tues. Dec.18th!

DANCE SHOWCASE INFORMATION
 Dear Parents/guardians,
            Your son/daughter is performing at our annual Dance Showcase on Tuesday, Dec.18th.  The students have been working very hard to prepare for this show and it is treated like a final exam for the course.  We invite you and your family to come watch and support the Panorama Ridge dancers.  It will be an entertaining evening of hip hop, Bollywood, breaking, lyrical, jazz, and a special holiday themed finale! 
Tickets are $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for students and kids 6 yrs and under are free.
Tickets can be purchased from your son/daughter (cash or cheque)
Tickets will also be for sale at the door.
Dancers must be at the school ready to go by 5:30pm
Doors open at 6:45pm, show starts at 7:00pm

This event is a fundraiser for the Panorama Ridge Dance program.  All ticket proceeds go towards costumes, guest teachers, field trips, shows, transportation, etc.

We will be having a raffle ticket draw (save your ticket stub), and a 50/50 draw. 
PR Dance clothing will also be on sale.
Please bring some extra cash if you would like to support our program J

Upcoming events!

Wednesday:  Dance Company XMAS party 3-5pm! 
                   - (bring a wrapped gift if you wanna play secret santa, and a food item for the potluck)

Thursday:  Spirit Assemblies!  Junior team 8:30am-10:47am (period 3 and 1st half of 4)
                                                   Senior team 9:47am-11:47am (all of period 4, double block)

Friday:  Henry Bose Elementary performance!  (all classes and teams)
             - get out of class at 12:00pm (period 2).....missing all of period 1
             - meet in dance room for attendance...walking to henry bose at 12:20pm
             - bring ALL costumes!
             - students will be dismissed at 2pm from henry bose elem. (early friday)

Monday:  Dance Company rehearsal (3-5pm)
             -  Junior, senior and lyrical, and small teams
             -  bring all costumes! (including duo, trios, small teams)

Tuesday:  DANCE SHOWCASE! 
             -  be ready by 5:30pm!!!  meet in small gym for attendance
             -  run through the finale together at 5:45pm
             -  extra time can be used for dance teams to mark on stage
             -  doors open at 6:45pm....show at 7pm
             -  tickets are $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for students, kids under 6yrs are free.
             -  show is about an hour....everyone must stay for at least 15mins to help clean up!

Entertainment Books for sale!!!

The dance company class is selling Entertainment Books to raise funds for their trip to New York City!!! 
We are also raising money for guest teachers, field trips, competition fees, etc.  Please contact Ms. Branham or a student in the class to purchase your entertainment book for $46.00.
We will only be selling them until mid October.

Welcome back!!!

Welcome back dancers!  I can't wait to start a new year of dancing with you!  I hope you are excited and energized after your summer break.  I cant wait to hear all the new ideas for this year's season!

Old and new students . . . Please use this blog as a way to keep in touch and get all the most up to date information.  Please show your parents this blog too . . . hopefully it will answer any questions they may have.  Its also a good way to be prepared for upcoming event dates.  I will be posting your class progress videos on this site as well.  Only dancers will be on this site, and we all use it as a tool to improve our dancing.

Dance showcase MONDAY June 11

Dear parents/guardians,
We would like to invite your family and friends to the Panorama Ridge Dance Showcase and Awards on Monday, June 11th in the large gym.  Doors will open at 6:45pm and the show starts at 7:00pm.  The show will run about an hour and a half with awards and scholarships being presented after. 
Tickets can be purchased at the office or through your son/daughter.  (They will also be available at the door).  Tickets are $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for students, and free for kids ages 6 and under.  ALL proceeds go towards the Panorama Ridge Dance Program which pays for scholarships, guest teachers, field trips, costumes, etc.  Each ticket sold will be entered into a draw for a door prize.  There will also be a 50/50 draw. 
Dance class is a performing art which is based on participation and performance skills.  Therefore, the showcase is mandatory for ALL semester 2 dance students as it is a large part of their grade.  They will be evaluated on their preparation, participation and performance skills.  Please help to ensure your son/daughter is well prepared the night before for their big show. 
-          Dancers must be at the school by 5:00pm ready with all their costumes.
-         They will have a rehearsal for approximately 1 hour
-         Doors open at 6:45pm for friends and family
-         The show should be over around 8:45pm.  Students are expected to stay for at least 15 mins to help clean up.
We sincerely hope you can attend the dance showcase on June 11th and support your son/daughter in their performances they have worked hard on all semester.  Your support is an important part of the Panorama Ridge Dance Program and we thank you!

*** DO NOT GET THIS NIGHT MARKET CONFUSED WITH THE MARKET BY RIVER ROCK CASINO.  WE ARE AT THE “SUMMER” NIGHT MARKET BEHIND HOME DEPOT – THE SAME ONE AS LAST YEAR.***

TRANSIT USERS: THERE IS A FREE SHUTTLE BUS FROM RIVER ROCK CANADA LINE STATION TO THE “SUMMER” NIGHT MARKET.

TEENS:  IF ITS LATE AT NIGHT AND YOU ARE TAKING TRANSIT GOING HOME AND THE LINE UP FOR THE BUS IS LONG, WALK OR BUS A FEW BUS STOPS THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION YOU ARE HEADING AND GET ON THE BUS FURTHER AWAY FROM THE MARKET.  THAT WAY, WHEN YOUR BUS GETS TO THE BUS STOP CLOSEST TO THE MARKET, YOU ARE ALREADY SEATED ON THE BUS!  LAST YEAR, TRANSIT USERS COULD NOT BOARD THE BUS BECAUSE IT WAS FULL AND THE LINEUPS WERE LONGGGGG.  SOME PEOPLE MISSED THE BUS ALTOGETHER BECAUSE THE LAST BUS WAS FULL.  THEIR PARENTS WERE NOT PLEASED.

Outbreak Small Teams Competition April 11

Outbreak small teams competition is WEDNESDAY, April 11th
 at Enver Creek Secondary (14505 - 84th )

(duos, trios, quads, small teams and break battles)

Be there around 5pm . . . comp starts at 6pm.

Tickets are $5 for students (ID required) $10 for adults.

Wednesday, April 18th:  Flash Mob rehearsal at Bear Creek Park 3:30pm-7:30pm
-           students will be transported by bus  (cost is $2)
Thursday, April 19th:  Flash Mob performance day!   (Bear Creek Park)
-            Junior and Senior Dance Team must be there by 4:00pm!!!
-           All other students must be there and check in by 6:00pm
-           Everyone is responsible for their own transportation!
-           Wear bright/neon colors!  Dress for the weather!  Could be cold!

Outbreak small teams!

TIME: Doors open to public at 5:30
           Competition starts at 6 p.m.           
            Show ends at 8 p.m.

TICKETS:  Door sales only / no advance ticket sales
                 $5 for students / $10 for adults

SEATING:  There will be approximately 240 seats to be shared between spectators and dancers.  Dancers will need to be backstage 3 numbers before they perform.

COST TO ENTER:  $10.00 per dancer
           
DIVISIONS: Any style allowed.

Dancers must be from same school.  Junior dancers can dance with seniors but seniors may not dance in a junior division.
ALL SMALL TEAM ROUTINES ARE 2 MINUTES MAX.
AT THIS TIME, ONLY ONE ENTRY PER SCHOOL PER DIVISION.

P.S. First place winners in each category will showcase their dance at   
       “Outbreak” on April 21st, 2012.

*BREAK DANCE BATTLE – 2 categories:
a) Beginners (single power moves not yet combined)
b) Advanced (able to combine power moves)
*Teams of 3 required and must be from same school. No grads.
  Maximum 2 runs per breaker and 2 commandos.
  Top 2 teams will battle again at Breakout on April 21st for 1st
  and 2nd place, 3rd place will be decided at the small teams competition.

ALL SCHOOL RULES APPLY AT THIS EVENT.
Costumes must be appropriate to an all ages audience.

MUSIC: Please bring your music on a flash drive.  It will be loaded onto our computer during warm-up. You can keep it for back-up.  Please edit all music to avoid deductions.

AWARDS will be presented at the end of the evening. 
All entries will receive ribbons from 1st to 3rd. 
If categories are large, we will give ribbons to 6th place.
